Our client base and team structure allows you to get real world experience working with individuals from all walks of life that are in need of help that you as a clinician can provide. To ensure you can fulfill your hours in a way that aligns with your learning goals we offer flexibility in scheduling and supplemental therapy sessions with clients. This means you can balance your academic responsibilities with your practicum or internship to make the most of your time with us.

How Our Practicum and Internship Program Work

The practicum and internship program offered at Oasis Recovery Center is a life-enriching place to complete your clinical hours needed for graduation. Students are invited to apply through the current school they are attending and then interview with the clinical staff at Oasis Recovery Center.

Our interns are encouraged to observe, learn, grow, and thrive throughout their time with us. The process can be broken down into three phases.

Observation Phase: The first two to three weeks are centered around learning the ins and outs of our recovery center. Interns will be invited to observe group therapy sessions, attend various meetings, and connect with the clinical staff to familiarize themselves with the day-to-day operations of Oasis Recovery Center.

Clinician Assigning and Shadowing: Once our interns feel comfortable with the daily life of the program, they are assigned a master’s level clinician who will act as their mentor and supervisor as interns begin co-running group therapy sessions and taking on supplementary therapy sessions for their assigned clinician’s clients.

Moving Forward On Your Own: Typically near the end of the internship, our interns will begin to receive their own caseload and use the skills they have learned throughout their internship to begin running group therapy sessions, conduct individual therapy with their clients, and further cultivate their skills as a mental health professional.
